On This Day (April 21)…3 Back South

3 performed on this day in 1988 at the Syria Mosque Ballroom in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The band was at this point back in the United States after three tour dates in Canada, the only dates that they undertook outside the United States in their career. 3 only ever undertook a single tour during their short existence, but built up a following which is active to this day.

During this concert, the group played at small venues like clubs, cabarets, and ballrooms, where they had an intimate experience with fans. The core band of Keith Emerson, Robert Berry, and Carl Palmer was joined by a few others for the tour, namely guitarist Paule Keller and backing vocalists Debra Parks and Jennifer Steele.

This concert apparently took place on the same day of an incident at the Canadian border where Robert Berry was left behind as a prank by Keith Emerson. Thankfully, however, his absence was quickly noticed!

There is no known recording of this concert.

Thank you so much for reading. If you appreciate what I do, consider donating on my ko-fi page or becoming a patron on my patreon! I’m planning on upgrading my wordpress plan to a premium one, which would allow me to improve my readers’ experience. Since I’m fairly broke, I would love it if the costs were offset a bit. Thank you!
