On This Day (August 23)…Works Come to St. Louis

Emerson, Lake & Palmer performed on this day in 1977 at the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ticket for the show. Retrieved from here.

ELP were at this time on their Works Tour, one of the longest and most grueling tours in their history. The tour started on a bad foot when the band was forced to part ways with the orchestra they had planned to tour with. Only a few concerts occurred before the financial burden of employing an orchestra–and the road crew necessary to keep up with them–became too much for the band. After the split, the group still played four concerts with the orchestra.

There is no known recording of this particular concert.
