Dream Theater, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Deep Purple performed on this day in 1998 at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado.

The three bands were making their way slowly westward across North America. At the time, they only had two concerts to go together, though both ELP and Deep Purple had at least one other separate date to augment the tour.
For Deep Purple, these dates were a part of their Abandon Tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. It had been released earlier that summer. Dream Theater, meanwhile, were supporting an album of their own, Falling into Infinity. They had been on the tour to support it, aptly named Touring into Infinity, since September of 1997. ELP’s tour was a standalone tour; events later that year would make this the last tour they ever undertook together. Barring a single concert in 2010 preceded by a tour with just Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, this tour was the end of their life as a trio.
