This was the first concert Purple did since their time in Jakarta, which has gone down as one of the worst periods in their touring history. It was the first of four concerts they did in Japan that year, where they were touring in support of their album Come Taste the Band.

The concert has been recorded, has not been officially released, and can be found online.

The venue they went to, Nagoya-shi Kokaido, is discussed in detail here.

Coincidentally, Rainbow performed here almost a year to the day on December 7, 1976. Ronnie James Dio dedicated “Mistreated” to Tommy Bolin, who had just died of a drug overdose.
