At the same time that the group came to Manchester, future group member Don Airey was studying music at the Royal Northern College of Music in the city. He has since stated that a Deep Purple concert he attended at the time was one of his major influencers behind his decision to eventually become a rock ‘n roll keyboardist. Based on timing, it was quite likely this particular concert which captured Airey’s imagination. At the time, he was twenty-one years old.
There is no known recording of this particular concert.
