Rainbow performed on this day in 1980 at the City Hall in Newcastle, England.
Rainbow were at this time on their Down to Earth tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. This was the first concert the group performed in the UK on the whole tour, something two members of the group later admitted they were apprehensive about.
A review of this concert praises the group’s work, though notes they were at this point quite different than they had been in their Dio era. It singled out singer Graham Bonnet and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore for particular praise.
There is no known recording of this particular concert.
I talk more about this venue, the Newcastle City Hall, here.
