Rainbow performed on this day in 1980 at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium.
Rainbow were at this time on their Down to Earth Tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. This concert, the second-ever performance the group gave in Belgium, came during the European leg of their tour. This was the second leg overall; by the time the tour concluded in August with Rainbow’s appearance at Castle Donnington, the group had visited three continents and performed on and off for a year.
This concert is known to have been recorded, and is in circulation online.
This was the first time Rainbow performed at Forest National, also known as Vorst Nationaal. They have sinced performed there three times: in 1981, in 1982, and in 1995. I talk more about Forest National here.
