Rainbow performed on this day in 1980 at Bingley Hall in Stafford, England.
Rainbow were at this time on their Down to Earth tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. Prior to beginning the UK leg of their tour, Rainbow had performed a full leg in continental Europe. They had also spent time in the United States, where they performed both as a solo act and as the opening act to Blue Öyster Cult. The group had begun their tour in the United States in order to hopefully break into the US music markets, a goal long held by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.
This concert is known to have been recorded, and is in circulation online.
