On This Day (June 15)…Tarkus Returns to Offenbach

Emerson, Lake & Palmer performed on this day in 1971 at the Stadthalle in Offenbach, Germany.

Generic version of poster used at the time in Europe. Retrieved from here.

If this crawl looks familiar, it’s because ELP were indeed here just the week previous. According to covers-at-an-exhibition.de’s website on 1971 dates, this second date was added by popular demand. ELP had released Tarkus, the album they were currently touring in support of, the previous day. Other than this change, the concert probably took on very similar contours to the concert of the previous week.

There is no known recording of this particular concert.

This was the second and apparently final time the band ever appeared in Offenbach. I talk more about the venue at which the band performed, the Stadthalle Offenbach, here.
