Rainbow performed on this day in 1980 at the Wembley Arena in London, England.

Rainbow were at this time on their Down to Earth Tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name.
The night before this concert, on Leap Day, the band had caused a riot when guitarist Ritchie Blackmore refused to perform an encore. One can only imagine the expectations of fans and the band alike for this concert. However, based on the sole review I can find for the concert, things went off without a hitch. In fact, Rainbow aren’t even mentioned. The ire of the concertgoers instead seemed to focus on the opening act, the Troggs, who were booed off the stage!
This concert is known to have been recorded. It is in circulation online.
This was Rainbow’s second performance in a row at the Wembley Arena. I talk more about the venue (and the performance which immediately preceded this one) here.
