Emerson, Lake & Palmer performed on this day in 1977 at the Ahearn Field House at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
ELP were at this time on their Works Tour, undertaken to support the two albums of the same name. During this second leg of the tour, the group performed at many college campuses. This particular concert was at some sort of Homecoming celebration for Kansas State University.
A review for this concert notes that the group dealt with a fairly low attendance, about 7300 in total. Another source suggests that the number was even lower, with slightly below 7200 tickets sold. The same review declares that while ELP performed quite well, the venue at which they played had particularly bad acoustics, further negatively affecting the group’s performance.
There is no known recording of this particular concert.
