On This Day (November 23)…Rainbow Come Down to New York

Rainbow performed on this day in 1979 at the Beacon Theater in New York City, New York.

Ticket for the show. Retrieved from here.

Rainbow were at this time on their Down To Earth Tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. Earlier in the tour, Rainbow had served as the opening act to Blue Öyster Cult, but had since parted ways with the group. This was the first concert the group performed while on their own on the East Coast; all previous concerts Rainbow performed by themselves had been in the Western United States.

A review of this concert was critical of Graham Bonnet, who had taken over vocals from Ronnie James Dio, but praised the rest of the musicians.

There is no known recording of this particular concert.
