On This Day (November 25)…Tull at the Tower

Jethro Tull circa 1987. Retrieved from here

Jethro Tull performed on this day in 1987 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This performance came as part of the “Not Quite The World, More The Here And There Tour”. This tour was done in support of their award-winning album Crest of a Knave. They were supported by Fairport Convention. Their current lineup consisted of Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Dave Pegg, Doane Perry and Don Airey (source).

The concert was recorded and later broadcast both on WWMR radio and King Biscuit Flower Hour. Two tracks were included in Tull’s 20 Years album, and the rest is circulating online. Interestingly, in his solos from this period, including the one taken from this day, keyboardist Don Airey can be heard shaping his album K2.

Bootleg cover from eBay. As the item is for sale and I don’t condone selling bootlegs, I won’t include the link.

The concert took place at the Tower Theater. I’ve already talked about this historic venue here.
