Rainbow performed on this day in 1979 at the Dane County Memorial Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin.

Rainbow were at this time on their Down to Earth Tour, undertaken to support the album of the same name. This album brought a change in sound, a more chart-friendly approach to music. It also brought three new members to the band: keyboardist Don Airey, bassist and producer Roger Glover, and singer Graham Bonnet.
At the concert immediately prior to this one, two members of the band got into a fight. However, by all accounts this concert was far calmer.
This concert is known to have been recorded. It is in circulation online.
