Emerson, Lake & Palmer performed on this day in 1970 at Northeast London Polytechnic in Waltham, England.

ELP were on their very first tour at this time. In some concerts, they performed alone. In other places, they played on a multi-act bill. This concert, at which they were joined by pub rock group Brinsley Schwarz, was one such example of the latter kind. Brinsley Schwarz had earlier in the year experienced a difficult opening concert despite a strong publicity campaign creating hype before they first debuted. Here, they were playing opposite a group which had had such a successful early concert at the Isle of Wight that they had become quite popular overnight.
Despite their early success, ELP did not seem to rest on their laurels with this first tour. They toured extensively throughout England, playing at some less-frequented areas along with tour circuit staples. A concert such as this, which appears to have been free based on the poster, could not have hurt in their quest to introduce themselves to as many new listeners as possible.
There is no known recording of this particular concert.
