On This Day (October 1)…Deep Purple Abandon Copenhagen

Deep Purple performed on this day in 1998 at K.B. Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Deep Purple were at this time on their Abandon Tour, supporting the album of the same name. This album had been released in June of that year.

Reviews of the concert were on the whole positive, though there was some criticism about the sound being too loud. Given Deep Purple once held the record for world’s loudest band, a high-decibel experience would not be unexpected.

This concert is known to have been recorded, and is in circulation online.

Deep Purple has an unusual connection to the venue at which this concert occurred, K.B. Hallen. I talk more about it and the venue here.
