2,400 people, 4 out of 10, It wasn’t that clever.
Cozy Powell from his tour diary
Emerson, Lake & Powell performed at Richfield Coliseum on this day in 1986.

The band were on their first and only North American tour, which saw them spanning the country in an ambitious set of dates. Unfortunately, poor advertising and sometimes unfortunate choices in venue left the band in financial difficulty by the end of the tour. This is well-demonstrated in Cozy Powell’s above notes, which states that 2,400 made it to the gig. A respectable number, until you take into consideration the fact that this is just over a tenth of the capacity of the venue.

The concert is known to have been recorded, and is in circulation online.

All three members of ELPowell had been to the Richfield Coliseum, which I talk more about here, prior to this show.
As a final note, this site has a very interesting little set of facts about what else was going on the night of September 23, 1986.
